Single Crochet Entrelac

Description

Single crochet entrelac achieves the popular block-by-block technique of entrelac using only single crochet and chain stitches. This pattern contains step-by-step photos and instructions for several configurations of entrelac including diamonds on point, diagonal stripes, around the world, and sunshine and shadow. Instructions are included for projects in each configuration, and instructions are given for using these techniques to make any square or rectangular project of any size. Nine designs in the pattern include: Around the World Rectangle Placemat, Around the World Rectangle Baby Afghan, Around the World Square Hot Pad, Around the World Square Baby Afghan, Sunshine and Shadow Square Mat or Cushion Cover, Blocks on Point Baby Afghan, Harlequin Hot Pad, Diagonal Stripes Hot Pad, Diagonal Stripes Baby Afghan.

Size

Projects shown range in size from a 6” square hot mat to a 36” baby afghan. Instructions are included for making projects of any size.

Materials

Single crochet entrelac may be worked with any yarn and appropriate hook size. Placemat and hot pads shown are made with 100% cotton worsted-weight yarn and size H crochet hook. Baby afghans shown are made with Baby Bee Sweet Delight acrylic/polyamide blend baby yarn in #70 Infant Teal (aqua), #66 Surf Baby (pale aqua), #40 Boo Pink (medium pink), #36 Pink-a-Boo (pale pink), #39 Meema's Blue (periwinkle blue), #60 Sugar Plum and size H crochet hook. Single crochet entrelac is wonderful for scrap projects of any size from hot pads to afghans.
